What Can I Study Part-Time?

Matric Courses

Matric Courses are programmes of study that give students the opportunity to complete or to improve their Matric. Matric College offers the following Matric Courses:

  • Adult Matric –  The Adult Matric Programme is for adult students (21 or older) who, for some reason, could not complete their Matric during their schooling years 
  • Matric Upgrade/Rewrite – The Matric Upgrade Course is for the following adult students:

    • Those who would have failed Matric
    • Those with an incomplete Matric
    • Those who want to improve their marks

ICB Courses

ICB stands for Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. The Institute is an Independent External Examinations Board. This means that it is only responsible for the administration and examination of the courses that they offer. Tuition for the courses is offered by ICB’s accredited Learning Providers. Matric College is an accredited Learning Provider of the ICB. Here are the ICB Courses that Matric College offers. ICB Courses build up on each other:

NATED Courses

NATED stands for National Accredited Technical Educational Diploma. NATED Courses are a product of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This is a result of the Department’s realisation of a shortage of skills in the job market. NATED Courses, also known as National Qualifications, build up on each other.

Short Courses are designed by Matric College. Their purpose is to give you a head start in your career. To qualify for the part-time study courses that Matric College offers, here is what you need:

  • Grade 9 and have proof of your report or
  • A Grade 9 Equivalent course (i.e. an ABET Certificate) that include two official language subjects
  • Be 21 or older 
  • Be able to read, write and understand English or Afrikaans 
  • You are able to study via distance learning
  • An incomplete Matric result or
  • Your final Matric results
  • Be 21 or older

How Does Part-Time Study Work?

  1. As soon as you successfully register for your programme of study, you will receive your study material at your door step via courier
  2. You will be advised if there are any online study groups for the course that you are studying. If there is, you are encouraged to join in order for you to interact with your tutors and fellow students.
  3. Come up with your own study timetable. Matric College can assist you in coming up with one
  4. Stick to your study timetable
