You will receive 3 Assignments that you have to complete before you gain entry into the exam. This means that you have to meet an average of 40% to qualify for the final exam.
NOTE: You have to complete 3 assignments for each subject that you study. This gives you three opportunities to get closer to qualifying for the final exam.

You have two opportunities to register for the exam. Here are the dates for the exam registration:

National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED courses) is designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training. Each course builds on the next course. This means that you have to first complete the N4 National Certificate course to complete the next course, which is the N5 National Certificate course. All National Qualifications (NATED Courses) consist of two components:
- Theory
- Practical
It takes between 18-36 months for each component to be completed. This means that you must complete 18 months of theory and 18 months of work experience for the full course (N4, N5, and N6 altogether).
Theory
This component of National Qualifications (NATED Courses) consists of various modules that students must complete. These modules give students the knowledge of how to approach the practical component of the course.
Practical
NOTE: You will receive a logbook from Matric College, which will have course-specific duties. These duties must be signed off by a Manager.
Once the 18 months of work experience has been completed you will send your logbook to Matric College, which will, in turn, submit it to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for approval.
Once it has been approved, the (DHET) will send you your National Diploma.
The practical component of this course consists of 18 months of work training. There are 3 ways you can approach your 18 months of work experience. Here is how you can complete your work experience:
- 6 months of theory and then 6 months of work experience
- 12 months of theory and then 12 months of work experience
- 18 months of theory and then 18 months of work experience
NOTE: You can complete your theory alongside your work experience. This means that you can complete your course faster.
