How Do I Apply For NATED Courses?
To apply for a NATED Course at Matric College, you must do the following:

- Visit our offices
Step 2: Get in touch with one of our friendly Course Experts. Their knowledge of the courses we offer is extensive. Depending on your career goals and interests, they can help you select a NATED Course.
Our Course Experts will also register you as a student for your desired course. Because we are a distance learning college, we accept applications all year long.
Step 3: You do not need to buy the study material, as it is covered by your course fees. The study material is couriered to your location. After registering, your delivery may arrive in five to seven days.
Step 4: You can begin studying as a Matric College student once you receive the study material.
Who Qualifies For NATED Courses?
- You qualify to study NATED Courses if you have passed Matric. You will have to meet the following requirements to study:
- Must have a Matric Certificate (National Senior Certificate OR Amended Senior Certificate)
- Be able to study through distance learning
- Be able to read, write and understand English
- Be at least 16 years older

Can I Do NATED With A Higher Certificate?
Yes, you can study a NATED Course with a Matric Higher Certificate Pass. You are allowed to enrol for NATED Courses at Matric College as long as you have passed your Matric. You can apply with any of the Matric Pass Levels below:
What Is A NATED Certificate?
A NATED Certificate is a qualification you receive when you complete a NATED Certificate Course. Below is a list of the NATED Certificate Qualifications you can earn:
- National N4 Certificate
- National N5 Certificate
- National N6 Certificate
Is N6 A Diploma?
An N6 Qualification may be any of the following:
- National N6 Certificate
- National N6 Diploma
How Many Subjects Are Needed For NATED?
You do not need a certain number of subjects to study NATED Courses. This means you are also not required to have any background knowledge to study the courses. The NATED Course you chose will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be qualified in your chosen field.
How Do NATED Courses Work?
When you choose a NATED Programme, there are four courses that you can complete. Three of the courses are Certificate Courses and the last one is a Diploma Course.
To get awarded the last Diploma Qualification, you must complete a work experience component for 18 months. Here is how you can do it:
- Register your personal details on the iWIL website
- This website belongs to the DHET
- Students can use the website to find volunteer work where they can gain experience
- Students can also complete their work experience through:
- (1) Learnerships
- (2) Internships
- (3) Part-time employment
- (4) Full-time employment
- The Manager of the company you work must sign a logbook for you as proof that you have finished your 18 months of work experience
- You get the logbook from us automatically (you do not apply for it)
- Please send the logbook back to us, and we will forward it to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for review
- Your N6 National Diploma will be sent to you once the DHET approves your logbook
What Happens After Completing N6?
Can I Go To University With N6?
No, you cannot go to university with an N6 Qualification. You need a Matric Certificate to apply to university. This must be a Bachelor’s Degree Pass. You will be accepted into the university if you meet the requirements that the university and the course you have applied for have set.
