Here is how you can complete the 18 months of work experience for the Management Assistant NATED N6 National Diploma:

  • Register on the iWIL website
    • The iWIL website is designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training
    • The purpose of the website is to help students find volunteer work where they can gain experience
  • Once you have registered, you will receive a job in a company at which you will complete your work experience
  • We will send you a logbook that you must complete throughout your work experience
    • You do not have to apply for a logbook, we automatically send you one
  • The manager of the business overseeing your work experience must sign off the logbook
  • Send the logbook back to us and we will send it to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for approval
  • Once the DHET has approved your logbook, they will send you your Management Assistant NATED N6 National Diploma

This is why Management careers involve the staff and managers to plan, organise and work on their duties to keep a company running productively.

National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) courses are courses designed by the DHET. They are specifically designed to prepare students for the work environment. All NATED courses are accredited and recognised nationally.

Yes, you can study the Management Assistant NATED Programme with a Matric Higher Certificate pass.

No, you cannot study Management Assistant without Matric. If you do not have Matric you can apply for the following courses to get a Matric Qualification:

Adult Matric (SAQA ID: 49647)

The Requirements For Adult Matric:

  • You must have at least a Grade 9 or equivalent qualification,
    • ie: Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) Level 4
  • You have an incomplete Matric 
  • You must be able to read, write and understand English or Afrikaans 
  • You must be 21 years or older to write the exams 
  • You may sign up for the Adult Matric at the age of 19 years old, but you will only be able to write the Adult Matric exam once you are 21

Once you have completed this course, you will be awarded a Matric Certificate. You can use this to apply for the Management Assistant NATED Programme. 

You do not need an APS score to apply for a Management Assistant NATED Programme. You only need a Matric Certificate.

National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) courses build on each other, from the first course to the last qualification: 

First, you study the Management Assistant NATED N4 National Certificate, and once you have completed this, you study the Management Assistant NATED N5 National Certificate. Once you have completed the NATED N5 Management Assistant National Certificate, you study the NATED N6 Management Assistant National Certificate. 

The NATED N6 Management Assistant National Diploma is a Qualification and not a course. To receive this Diploma, you must have completed the N4, N5 and N6 NATED Management Assistant Certificates. Once you have completed all the certificates, you must complete 18 months of work experience and then the DHET will award you with your NATED N6 Management Assistant National Diploma Qualification.

You pass Management Assistant NATED courses by completing the assessments for each Certificate course. Once you have completed this, you can complete 18 months of work experience and receive the Management Assistant NATED N6 National Diploma. The exams are written in the following period: 

  • May / June 
  • October / November

The exam registration opportunities are open in the following period: 

  • February if you would like to write your exam in May / June

There is one final exam for each subject. To pass the exams you must get 50% and higher. There are also 3 open book assignments for each subject in each Certificate course. You must aim for 50% or higher to pass these assignments. You can use your study material to help you find answers.

No, you cannot do the PGCE with a Management Assistant NATED N6 National Certificate. You need a Bachelor’s Degree Qualification or an advanced Diploma to study.
