No, it is not okay to study on my bed. Your bed is too comfortable for you to study on it. You may fall asleep while studying. The best place to study is sitting on a chair by the table. Your body and mind will be alert, and you will study better.

Studying consistently 

You can study smart by being consistent in how you study. This way, you will complete most of your subject topics before the exam starts. By the time the exam starts, you will simply be revising your work. 

Using past papers 

Past exam papers are best to use if you want to study smart. They give you an idea of how you will perform in the exam. You can use them to practise for the exam and see how prepared you are. 

Joining a study group 

You can join a study group where you will study with other students. Seeing other students study will motivate you to do the same. If you are having challenges with what you are studying, the group can assist you. 

What Should I Do Before Studying?

If you want to study with a clear mind and an effective body, you can try to do the following things before you start studying:

  • Be well-rested
  • Go on a walk 
  • Exercise 
  • Take a shower or bath 
  • Eat a small filling meal 
  • Have a glass of water

How Can I Do Good In The Exam?

You can do well in your exam if you prepare for it. Exams are one of the most important assessments when you are in Matric. You must do well in these to pass Matric. To prepare best for your exam, you can use past question papers. 

Examiners usually repeat exam questions year after year. Some of the questions you study in the exam paper may appear in your final examination. Make sure you are able to answer all sections in the question paper.

Is 95% A Good Mark?

Yes, 95% is a good mark. This is an excellent mark that can boost your Matric results. Any mark that is 80% or above is a distinction in Matric. If you earn a distinction pass, you are one step closer to studying at the university.

How Can I Pass Matric?

If you want to pass your Matric, you must do well in your internal and external assessments. Below is a table to show you how many marks you need to pass:

Internal Assessments (School Based Assessments)

External Assessments (Matric Final Examination) 

Contributes 25% in your final marks 

Contributes 75% in your final marks 

Must complete class presentations, tests, assignments, June and trail exams to work for this mark 

Must complete the final examination to work for this mark 

Boosts your final examination marks 

Serves as your final Matric results (combined with your internal assessments mark) 

To pass your Matric, you must obtain at least 50% marks. This 50% should come from your internal and external assessment marks combined. When you have 50% or higher marks in your Matric subjects, you earn the highest Matric pass, which is known as a Bachelor’s Degree Pass.

A Bachelor’s Degree Pass is important because it is accepted at university. You can use it to further your education at university. Please note that this is if you meet the requirements set by the university and the course you apply for.

Can A University Reject My Bachelor’s Degree Pass?

Yes, a university can reject your Bachelor’s Degree Pass even though it is the highest pass in Matric. The university is looking for students with excellent marks. This is why it is important to gain 50% or higher marks. Most universities look for 60% or 70% marks. If you do not have this, you may not be accepted. 

The best thing you can do if you have a Bachelor’s Degree Pass with low marks is to upgrade your marks. You can enrol at Matric College and study for higher marks. You can apply for the Upgrade Matric Course. You will have tutors, study material, past exam papers and other resources to help you as you improve your results.
