Here are the three courses that we offer:

  • Adult Matric Course

The Department of Basic Education gives students the opportunity to register for the exams with them. Learn more about them below:

The Department Of Basic Education

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) is one of the two departments that deal with education in South Africa. The other department referred to, is the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

The DBE mainly focuses on primary and secondary (high school) education as well as adult literacy programmes. Their primary role is to support and maintain South Africa’s educational system.

Their vision is to ensure that everyone in South Africa has access to lifelong education, training opportunities and learning. They hope that this, in turn, will contribute towards improving the quality of life for South Africans. By having more skilled workers in South Africa, we will have increased personal and economic growth.

What Should I Do To Complete My Matric Online?

If you choose to only register with the Department of Basic Education then you would have to do the following:

  • Study by yourself
  • You will not receive any study material from the Department of Basic Education
  • The Department of Basic Education will not assist you with your subject choice
  • They will also not check up on you to see if you have started your studies

  • You have to be able to study matric online
  • You can study online matric in English OR Afrikaans

What Are The ABET Levels About?

(ABET) Adult Basic Education Training is for students who want to complete their basic education (primary school) as adults. This course is usually done online and is NOT matric.

There are four levels that lead up to a (GETC) General Education and Training Certificate: ABET Level 4 qualification. Here are the four ABET levels

  • ABET Level 1
  • ABET Level 2
  • ABET Level 3
  • GETC: ABET Level 4

ABET Level 1 to ABET Level 3 is not registered on the (NQF) National Qualifications Framework and should not be confused with the NQF Levels.

The GETC: ABET Level 4 qualification is however on the NQF as NQF Level 1. NQF Level 1 is equivalent to a Grade 9 certificate or what was known as a Standard 7.

The GETC: ABET Level 4 qualification should NOT be confused with the NQF Level 4.

An NQF Level 4 qualification could be a Grade 12 OR a Matric Equivalent Certificate.

Here is a table comparing school grades, ABET Levels and NQF Levels:

After you have completed the GETC: ABET Level 4, you can apply for the online matric with us OR you can complete the online matric course after completing your Grade 9 at school.

Can I Register for ABET Online?

Yes, you can register for ABET online. You can also apply at the following places:

What Is ABET Matric?

Can I Go To University With ABET Matric?
