The Financial Management: NATED N5 National Certificate is the second course in the NATED Financial Management Programme. This course is more in-depth than the Financial Management: NATED N4 National Certificate. 

You have to complete the Financial Management NATED N4 National Certificate before gaining entry to the Financial Management: NATED N5 National Certificate. All of our NATED courses lead to the next course in the programme. This means that you need to complete one course to enter the next course.

Learn how to create a business plan. By examining all aspects of entrepreneurship, you will learn everything you need to know about starting your own company.

Computerised Financial Systems N5: In this subject, you will learn the basics of Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll.

Financial Management: NATED N5 National Certificate Assessments

The following assessments are included in the Financial Management: NATED N5 National Certificate:

  1. Assignments
  2. Exams

Each subject in the course will have assignments and exams. To qualify for the exams, you have to pass your assignments with at least 40%.

Assignments

You have to complete three Assignments before you write the final exams. These assignments will allow you to gain entry into the exam. You must meet an average of 40% to qualify for the final exam.

NOTE: Each subject has three assignments. You will have three opportunities to qualify for the final exam.

Exams

You can register for the exam two times in a year if you qualify. Here are the months for registration:

  • February: registration for the exam is open during February
    • You will write the exam in May OR June
  • August: registration for the exam is open during August
    • You will write the exam in October OR November

*To pass the exams your total marks must be 50% and more

Further Your Studies At Matric College

You can continue your studies at Matric College. Once, you have completed your Financial Management: NATED N5 National Certificate, you can complete your Financial Management: NATED N6 National Certificate and then the Financial Management NATED N6 National Diploma. You must complete 18 months of work experience to get your Financial Management NATED N6 National Diploma. Once you have completed your 18 months of work experience, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) will award you an N6 National Diploma. Here are the steps you need to take to complete your work experience:

Step 1: Complete all of the Financial Management NATED National Certificates

The National Certificates that we offer are:

  • N4 National Certificate
  • N5 National Certificate
  • N6 National Certificate
Step 2: Apply for employment to gain work experience
The Department of Higher Education and Training has a programme called iWIL. This programme provides students with the opportunity to complete their work experience.
Step 3: Gain the necessary experience you require
Once you have successfully registered, the iWIL service will match you with work-based learning to employers that have made offers for placement. You could also apply for work-based learning, internships, learnerships or full-time employment online.
Step 4: Get your N6 National Diploma after your 18 months of work experience

As you are completing your 18 months of work experience you should use the logbook Matric College provides. The Logbook will have specific duties that should be signed off by the Manager of the company you are completing your work experience.

NOTE: You can complete your work experience in sections. This means that you can complete 6 months of experience at one company and the other 12 months at another company.

The logbook must be signed off with the following details:

  • Company name
  • Managers name
  • Contact details of the company and/or Managers contact details
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Address of the company
Step 5: Submit your completed logbook to Matric College

You have to complete the 18 months work experience and provide us with the logbook. We will then submit the logbook to the Department of Higher Education and Training for approval.

Once they have approved your logbook, they will send you your N6 National Diploma.

NOTE: Your completed logbook will provide us and the Department of Higher Education and Training with reliable evidence that you have completed your work experience.

Financial Management N4 – N6 courses are the National Qualifications (NATED) that were designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training. In order to earn the N National Diploma, students must complete both theoretical and practical components of all of these courses.

National Certificates start at an NQF Level 5 and move up to an NQF Level 6. An N6 NATED Diploma Qualification is at an NQF Level 6 which is just one level below a Degree.

National Qualifications are also referred to as NATED courses. It stands for National Accredited Technical Education Diploma courses. Each NATED course builds on the other. To gain entry into the N5 National Certificate, you must complete the N4 National Certificate course.

A NATED National Certificate in Financial Management can be completed between 6 to 12 months. All of the National courses N4, N5, and N6 can take between 18 to 36 months to complete. The following table explains how you can complete a NATED Course in Financial Management at Matric College:

You can only complete one course at a time. Only six months of theory will be covered if you choose to complete the N4 National Certificate.

This applies to the N4, N5, and N6 National Certificate:

If you wish, you can complete all three courses. With the N4, N5 and N6 National Certificates, you will only complete 18 months of theory.

Completing the course followed by the practical

After completing 6 months of theory, you can complete 6 months of work experience. The whole process takes 12 months.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4 Certificate.

After completing 12 months of theory, you can complete 12 months of work experience. The whole process takes 24 months.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4 and N5 National Certificates.

After completing 18 months of theory you can complete 18 months of work experience. The whole process takes 36 months.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4, N5, and N6 National Certificates.

If you want your N6 National Diploma, you have to complete a total of 18 months of work experience.

Combining your work experience with your academic studies

This option is for students that are working in their field of study while studying.

You can complete the practical component of the N4 Certificate with 6 months of work experience.

No, the NATED Financial Management Programme does not have a Board Exam. Board Exams are generally completed in Degree courses. The NATED Financial Management Programme does however require you to complete 18 months of work experience to get your Financial Management: NATED N6 National Diploma.
