The Financial Management: NATED N4 National Certificate is the first course in the NATED Financial Programme. This course will equip you with the basic skills of Financial Management. In this course, students can:

Management Communication N4 : Learn how to effectively communicate in a managerial environment.

Computerised Financial Systems N4: You will learn the basics of Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll in this subject.

Financial Management: NATED N4 National Certificate Assessments

The National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) Program Assessments include:
  1. Assignments
  2. Exams
For each subject, you must complete the assignments and exams. To qualify for the exams, you must pass your assignments with a 40% pass rate.

Assignments

You will receive three Assignments to complete before gaining admission to the exam. Therefore, you must meet an average of 40% to qualify for the final test.

Exams

You have two chances to register for the exam. There are two registration dates:

  • February: You can register for the exam during this month
  • Registering during this time of year will allow you to write the exam in May or June
  • August: You can register for the exam during this month

Registering during this time of year will allow you to write the exam in October or November

NOTE: To pass the final exams you total marks must be 50% or more

An N4 in Financial Management is a course that was designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training. This is the first course you have to complete in the NATED Financial Management Programme. The NATED Financial Management course will equip you with the basic skills to start your educational journey as a Financial Manager.

No, an N4 is not a Higher Certificate on the NQF system. Although, an N4 is at an NQF Level 5 as well as a Higher Certificate is at an NQF Level 5.  They are not the same.

All NATED National Certificates are different from other National certificates because of these two reasons:

  • They have a different purpose

They have a different exit-level outcome

You can achieve your N4 Certificate by completing all of the assignments for each subject as well as completing the exams for each subject. You must achieve an average of 40% to qualify for the exams (assignment marks) and an average of 50% for your final mark.

Matric College will send your N4 National Certificate, once your results have been processed.

Financial Management N4 – N6 courses are the National Qualifications (NATED) that were designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training. Each course has a theoretical and practical component that should be completed to get an N National Diploma. 

These courses start with an NQF Level 5 and move up to an NQF Level 6. An NQF Level 6 qualification is just one level below a Degree course.

National Qualifications are also referred to as NATED courses. It stands for National Accredited Technical Education Diploma courses. National Qualifications (NATED Courses) build on one another. This means that you must complete the N4 National Certificate course to gain entry into the N5 National Certificate.

No, you cannot complete a degree course with an N4 National Certificate. You can only apply with an N4 National Diploma for a Short Course or a Diploma course at a university. However, It still depends on the university’s entry requirements and the requirements for the specific courses they offer.

You should research the university before applying. N4 National Certificates are accepted by certain universities, while others do not accept these certificates. Most universities only look at your Matric Pass Level, regardless of the other qualifications you have completed after Matric.

An N4 is a National Certificate course that was designed by the DHET to allow students to gain theoretical and practical knowledge. The NATED National Certificate courses in Financial Management can be completed in 6 to 12 months. Taking all three National courses N4, N5, and N6 can take between 18 – 36 months to complete. The table below explains how you can complete a NATED Course in Financial Management at Matric College:

Completing the course followed by the practical

After six months of theory, you can spend another six months on work experience. The total period will be 12 months.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4 Certificate.

Your 12 months of theory can be followed by another 12 months of work experience. This will be 24 months in total.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4 and N5 National Certificates.

You can complete 18 months of theory followed by another 18 months of work experience. This will be 36 months in total.

Whether you complete your work experience or not you will still receive your N4, N5, and N6 National Certificates.

To earn your N6 National Diploma, you must have a total of 18 months of work experience.
