Studying Financial Management Without Matric

You can study the Financial Management NATED courses at Matric College and gain qualifications that are recognised by employers in the work environment.

Do you want to study in the Financial Management NATED Courses but do not have Matric? You do not need to worry. You can study this course at Matric College even if you do not have Matric. 

To be able to study the Financial Management NATED Courses, We require that you have Matric. For someone who does not have Matric, we recommend that they first study our Adult Matric or Upgrade Matric course. 

Through the Adult Matric and the Upgrade Matric Courses, you will be awarded a Matric Certificate. You will then use the Matric Certificate to study for the Financial Management NATED Courses. Here are the courses you will study: 

Adult Matric Course

The Adult Matric Course is designed to help you gain knowledge that is good for furthering your studies. When you have completed studying this course, you are awarded a Matric Certificate. You can use the Matric Certificate to apply for the Financial Management NATED Courses. 

These are the requirements for the Adult Matric Course: 

  • You passed Grade 9 and have proof of your report OR
  • You completed a Grade 9 equivalent course (i.e. an ABET Certificate) that included two official language subjects
  • You are 21 or older when you write your exams
  • You can apply as early as the age of 19 and start studying
  • You can read, write and understand English or Afrikaans 
  • You are able to study via distance learning

Upgrade Matric Course

The Upgrade Matric Course is designed to help you improve your Matric results. If you have been in Matric before and you either failed or passed, you can study this course. You will be awarded a Matric Certificate when you finished the course. You can use this qualification to study the Financial Management NATED Courses

What Is Financial Management?

The Financial Management NATED Courses are created by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The DHET designed these courses because there is a gap in the youth employment rate in South Africa. 

They created courses with components that are valued by employers as a way to help more students gain employment. The Financial Management NATED Courses are made up of two components. These are: 

  • Theoretical component 
  • Practical component 

Theoretical Component

The Financial Management NATED Courses are made up of four National courses. Three courses are National Certificates and the fourth course is a National Diploma. The three National Certificate courses consist of the theoretical component. 

These are the three Financial Management National Certificate Courses

The theoretical component refers to the theoretical studies. This means that you must complete certain assessments in order to pass this component. In the above National Certificate Courses, there are three open book assignments and one final examination in each subject. 

To pass these courses, you must pass with 50% marks or higher. When you have completed the theory component, you move into the practical component.

Practical Component

The last course is the Financial Management: NATED N6 National Diploma consist of a practical component. There are no assignments or exams in this course. To pass this course, you must work for 18 months. This is known as 18 months of work experience. 

You must find a company where you work for 18 months. When you have completed this practical component, you are then awarded your Financial Management: NATED N6 National Diploma.

This is how you can complete your work experience: 

  • Register your personal details on the iWIL website:
    • This is a website designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training
    • Through the iWIL website, you will be able to find a company where you can complete your practical component 
    • This experience can be paid or unpaid based on the company you work at 

  • We will provide you with a logbook to use during your work experience:
    • You do not apply for this logbook, we simply send it to you 

  • In order to prove the completion of your work experience, the manager of the company where you worked must sign your logbook
  • Return the logbook, and we will send it through to the DHET for them to review it 
  • The DHET will issue your Financial Management: NATED N6 National Diploma once your logbook has been approved

What Subjects Are Needed To Study Financial Management?

There are no specific subjects needed to study the Financial Management NATED Courses. However, if you have subjects such as the following, it would be easier for you to understand the course. These subjects are:

  • Mathematics 
  • Accounting 
  • Economics 
  • Business Studies 

How Can I Pass Financial Management?

You can pass the Financial Management NATED Courses by completing the theoretical and practical components in the course. This is how you can do it:

  • Find a company where you can do your work experience 
  • Get a logbook from us 
  • Complete the 18 months of work experience 
  • Let the manager sign your logbook 
  • Send us the logbook, and we will send it to the Department of Higher education and Training for approval
  • Receive the Financial Management: NATED N6 National Diploma after your logbook has been approved
