These courses do not build on each other, and you can apply for any course. This allows you to decide which course you think would be appropriate for you to study.

The subjects in the Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course allow students to learn everything from how to keep parents happy to taking care of the basic needs of their children. This course is the most comprehensive course in the Child Day Care Programme.

You have to complete (6) six subjects for the Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course. Each subject has (3) three assignments that you need to complete. You will only receive the Child Day Care: Comprehensive Certificate if you have passed the (6) six subjects.

What Will I Learn?

You will learn different skills in each subject. These skills will help you complete any of the Child Day Care duties to the best of your ability. Here are some of the skills you will learn in each subject:

Child Day Care DCD – 101: If you want to know more about the early development of young children and how important nutrition and other developmental factors are, then this subject will give you all the skills you need. You will also touch on young children with Special needs and how to manage and identify it.

Child Day Care DCD – 102: If you want to know how communities and social factors influence the development of young children, then this subject will educate you on these skills. This subject will also educate you on hygiene and safety measures that you need to follow in Child Day Care.

Customer Satisfaction: This subject will teach you skills on what customer satisfaction is, how to provide the best customer service as well as how to resolve conflict and using different techniques for different customers.

First-Aid Concepts: You are going to work with young children, and the most important skill that you need to have is the skill to keep young children safe at all times. This subject will teach you the basics of safety procedures.

Introduction to Business English: Are you planning on opening up your own Child Day Care Centre, then this subject will give you tips on how to communicate professionally. You will learn:

  • Verbal communication
  • Non-Verbal communication
  • Business writing
  • How to speak and listen to customers and potential customers effectively

Office Management: This subject will give you the skills you need to manage an office. You will learn more about customer relations, hiring new staff, how to set staff guidelines and what your roles and responsibilities are as a Child Day Care Owner or Child Day Care Manager.

Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course Assessments

There are no deadlines for your assignments. You should submit your assignments before the duration of your course ends. If you fail an assignment, you will get limitless opportunities to submit the assignment again. This is at no additional cost to you.

Assignments

You will get (3) three assignments for each subject. After you have passed these three subjects with 50% or more, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is an indication that you have mastered the skills of that particular subject, it also means that you can receive your next batch of study material.

Exams

You will not write any final exams for the Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course. This is a short course that does not require you to write an exam. You will only complete assignments that should be passed with 50% or more.

A Child Day Care Course is a course that gives students the skills that they need to take care of young children in an informal setting. This means that they will not be teaching learners, but they are taking care of young children. This means that these professionals will be responsible for the well-being of young children from (0) birth to (5) five years old.

Yes, you can study Early Childhood Development (ECD) without Matric. This depends on the institution you apply to. Certain institutions only require you to have a Grade 11 Certificate with Mathematical Literacy as a subject. At Matric College, you can study any of our (3) Child Day Care Courses that will give you skills related to Early Childhood Development. Here are the courses that we offer:

  1. Child Day Care: Short Course
  2. Child Day Care: Certificate Course
  3. Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course

Many students would like to apply for an Educare Diploma Course, but they do not have Matric, or they have failed Matric. If you are a student who would like to complete or improve your Matric marks, then you can apply at Matric College.

If you do not have Matric and would like to complete Matric, you can apply for our Adult Matric Course. Meet the following entry requirements to apply:

  • Be 21 or older to apply. If you are only 19 years of age, you can also apply, but you have to be 21 to write the final Matric exam.
  • Have a Grade 9 Certificate or,
  • Have a Grade 9 Equivalent Certificate (ABET Level 4)
  • Write, read and Understand English or Afrikaans
  • Study through distance learning

If you have failed Matric or if you would like to improve your Matric marks to gain admission to a university, then you should apply for our Matric Upgrade Course. Meet the following entry requirements to apply:

An Educare Course is a course that allows students to gain skills to look after young children. We offer NATED Educare courses that give students both practical and theoretical skills. These courses were designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to allow students to be work-ready.

Matric College has (4) four Educare Courses:

You can complete any of our Child Day Care Courses without Matric. You only need to meet these entry requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years of age or older
  • Read, write and understand English

Be comfortable studying through distance learning

If you would like to run your own crèche you need to apply for any of these courses:

An ECD NQF Level 4 Qualification is Equivalent to Matric. An Educare NATED N4 Level is not equivalent to a Matric Qualification. The NATED Levels should not be confused with NQF Levels and NATED Levels are not equivalent to any other qualification because it has a different purpose than other courses, and it has a different exit-level outcome.

For example, if you have a (9) nine-month duration period, you have to complete your course before the (9) nine months end.

How Do I Study Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course

We believe that students should decide on their own study schedule, and therefore we provide distance learning courses. Our students can study the Child Day Care: Comprehensive Course through distance learning, which allows them to submit their assignments online.
