Where to find my 2020 matric results?

Here is a guide for where to find your 2020 matric results.

Online

Students can get their matric results by logging on to the Department of Basic Education website.

Your Cellphone

Learners can access their results via SMS by registering through an SMS system.  You can use the USSD service by:

  • Dialing *120*35658# on the release date
  • Enter your ID number 
  • You will get your matric results per subject
  • USSD rates apply

How to get your Matric Results via SMS 2021

  • Step 1: Open a new SMS message on your phone
  • Step 2: Fill in your ID Number AND Exam Number as the message
  • Step 3: Both numbers must have 13 digits to be accepted
  • Step 4: Send the SMS to this number: 35658
  • Step 5: Note that the SMS will cost R3,00 (Free SMS does not apply)
  • Step 6: Your exam number and ID number will be checked – if you send incorrect numbers it won’t work
  • Step 7: You will get your results once they are made available on 23 February 2021

Your High School

You can access your results from the school where you completed your matric. 

The newspaper

Results will also be published on different newspapers on the day the results are released.  The results on the newspaper will not show your full results. 

The results will simply state whether you passed and with which symbol you have passed.  There are three different matric pass levels ; 

  • Bachelor’s pass
  • Diploma pass
  • Higher certificate pass

Release date

The 2020 matric results will be released on the 23rd of February 2021.

Due to the effects caused by COVID-19, the examination period for the matric finals was pushed into December. 

In addition to that, there was a large number of matric students who wrote their final exams in 2020. Over 1 million students wrote their exams.

Due to the large number of papers that have to be marked, All exam papers are expected to be marked by early January.
