You prepare for the Grade 12 final examination in the following manner:

You can use past question papers to prepare for the final exam. These papers will help you to get an idea of what to expect in your final exam. You can use these papers to test your knowledge and ensure that you enter the exam knowing how to answer different questions.
Join A Study Group
To prepare for the final exam, you can join a study group. This will help you to remain motivated in your studies. You will also have a chance to ask other students to help you with subject topics you find challenging. As a result, you will have a better chance of passing the exam.
Get Extra Lessons
To prepare for the final examination, you can get extra lessons. This can be online, or at schools from a personal tutor. Learning information from different people will help you gain new information.

Why Do Learners Fail Their Matric Exams?
Learners fail their exams because they are not fully prepared to write. This happens when you procrastinate during your study sessions. To avoid failing the exam, you can do the following:
- Study from the beginning of the year
- Prepare for all assessments
- Aim for high marks in all assessments
- Use past exam papers and memorandums to study
- Ask others for help
How Many Hours Should A Matric Student Study?
You can study for about four to six hours daily. However, this is a personal preference. You can choose to study for four to six hours or more. The more hours you study, the more chances you have to understand what you are studying.
Is 1 Hour Enough To Study?
For revision, one hour is enough time to study. However, if you want to study a new topic or something you have not studied in a long time, an hour would not be enough. You are advised to study for at least (3) three to (6) six hours daily. Studying for longer hours will help you be relaxed and obtain information fast and easily.
Can I Fail 1 Subject In Matric?
Yes, the Department of Basic Education has a rule that states that if you fail only one subject, you are allowed to pass Matric. This applies only if the subject failed is not our Home Language. If you want to study at university, you should ensure that you pass all your subjects. This will boost your Admission Point Score (APS).
What Is The Highest Pass In Matric?
The highest pass in Matric is known as a Bachelor’s Degree Pass. Besides this pass, there are three more Matric passes that you can earn. To pass Matric, you only need to earn one of the following passes:
Bachelor’s Degree Pass Level
You must obtain the following marks:
- At least 40% in your home language
- At least 50% in four subjects
- At least 30% in two other subjects
Diploma Pass Level
You will have to obtain the following marks:
- At least 40% in your home language
- At least 40% in four subjects
- At least 30% in two other subjects
Higher Certificate Pass Level
You need to obtain the following marks:
- At least 40% in your home language
- At least 40% in two subjects
- At least 30% in four other subjects
National Senior Certificate Pass Level
You must obtain the following marks:
- At least 40% in your home language
- At least 30% in two other subjects
- At least 30% in three subjects
- One subject can be failed

The symbols ‘A, B, C, D’ in the Matric results stand for the following:
