The Matric You Want Without The Classroom

You should consider studying your Matric through distance learning. Distance learning is flexible. You can cut costs, work and learn and also gain skills.

Did you know that you can pass Matric with flying colours without setting foot in a classroom? Yes, you can. Matric College, a distant learning institution, offers Matric Courses that you can study from home. The College offers the following Matric Courses:

  • Adult Matric – This course gives adults who could not complete their Matric during their schooling days to do so. To qualify for this course, you must possess the following requirements: 
    • Proof that you completed Grade 9 or Equivalent (ABET Level 4)
    • Be 21 or older
    • Be able to read, write and understand English
    • Be prepared to study through distance learning  
  • Matric Upgrade –  This course is for those students who would have already written Matric and want to achieve the following: 
    • Rewrite failed subjects
    • Improve marks for subjects passed
    • Change subjects, perhaps for easier ones
    • Add more subjects 
  • Matric Rewrite –  A Matric Rewrite Course is also known as the Second Chance Matric Programme. It gives traditional Matric students who would have failed to meet the requirements of a Matric to do so. To qualify for Matric Rewrite, you must be 21 or older.

How Many Hours A Day Should I Study In Matric?

You should study Matric for between 6 -8 hours a day. You should however take note of the following:

  • Have a study plan
  • Stick to your study plan
  • Make sure that there are no distractions where you study
  • All necessary stationery must be at the place that you study
  • Have 15 – 20-minute breaks in-between studies
  • You can play low music if it does not disturb you
  • Study to know not to cram
  • Invite a friend to study with you
  • Do not study if you are feeling tired
  • Have enough sleep

What Is The Lowest Certificate In Matric?

The lowest Matric Pass Level is the National Senior Certificate Pass/Senior Certificate (Amended). Here are all the Matric Pass Levels:

Bachelor’s Degree Pass

With this Matric Pass Level, you can study a Bachelor’s Degree at a University. To achieve this Matric Pass Level, here is what you need:

SENIOR CERTIFICATE AMENDED SC (A)

NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)

At least 40% for your Home Language

At least 40% for your Home Language

At least 50% for four other Higher Credit subjects

At least 50% for four other High Credit subjects

At least 30% for one other subject

At least 30% for two other subjects

Diploma Pass

With this Matric Pass Level, you can study for a Diploma. To achieve this Matric pass Level, here is what you need:

With this Matric Pass Level, you can study for a Higher Certificate. To achieve this Matric pass Level, here is what you need:

National Senior Certificate Pass

With this Matric Pass Level, you can study for any qualification which needs a general Matric pass. To achieve this Matric pass Level, here is what you need:

SENIOR CERTIFICATE AMENDED SC (A)

NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)

At least 3 subjects with 40%. One of these subjects should be an official Home Language

At least 40% in your Home Language

At least 2 subjects with 30%. One of these subjects should be a First Additional Language or Home Language

At least 40% in two other subjects

You can fail 1 subject. The minimum percentage you can get for this subject is 20%.

At least 30% in three other subjects. You can fail one subject even if it is your First Additional Language, but you must get 30% or more for the rest of the subjects

What Is An APS?

Admission Point Score (APS) is a system used by Universities to streamline the application process. 

Your APS is determined by your final Matric marks. Percentages are divided into seven (7) brackets, and each bracket is worth a certain number of points. The points allocation is as shown below:

What Can I Study If I Failed Matric?

Do not be disheartened if you fail Matric, as there are courses that you can study that do not require Matric. The following courses do not require Matric:

ICB Courses are scarce skills courses designed by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. The Institute is an internationally recognised External Independent Examination Board. Matric College is an accredited Learning Provider of the ICB. Here are the ICB courses that Matric College offers:
