What Grade Do I Need For College?

The grades you need depend on the course you want to take. At Maric College, we do not enrol students based on their school grades or results, but rather on the grades they have completed.  Below is a list of courses and the grades required to study them.

ICB Courses

To study different ICB Courses you will need different qualifications. These qualifications include the following:

  • Grade 10
  • Grade 11

Studying any of our ICB Courses will benefit you. They provide you with scarce skills, business knowledge, and qualifications that are recognised all over the world. Obtaining these qualifications means you can start a business, find employment, or further your studies.

NATED Courses

To study our NATED Courses, you need Matric. It does not matter what type of pass level you achieved. As long as you pass Matric, you can apply for our NATED Courses.

All NATED Courses will provide you with practical skills and knowledge. Our NATED Course Qualifications are employment-friendly and recognised all over South Africa. This means your chances of finding employment will be higher.

Short Courses 

For our Short Courses, you are not required to have a certain qualification. This means that you can study with or without having completed your school career.

Can I Go To College At 16 In South Africa?

Yes, you can go to college in South Africa at the age of 16. This is the minimum age required to study at a college. If you are 16 years old, you can apply to study at Matric College.

Can You Go To A TVET College With Grade 9?

Each Grade in South Africa represents an age expected. For example, in Grade 8, you would expect the students to be turning 14 or already 14 years old for this Grade. And this age increases with grades. If you are 16 years old, this could mean one of two things:

  • You have a Grade 9 certificate
  • A grade 10 Certificate

Having a grade 9 qualification will make you eligible for an Adult Matric course. Whereas, a grade 10 and higher, will give you entry into specialised courses. All are available at Matric College. 

What Is The Lowest Grade To Pass A College?

Most of our courses can be passed by obtaining at least 50% in tests, assignments and exams. This is the average mark that can help you pass and graduate on time.

Can I Finish College In 3 Years?

Yes, you can finish college in three years. This depends on the course you are completing. Most of our Diploma Courses can be completed in two to three years.

With us, you are allowed to study at your own pace. This means that your course can extend beyond three years if you need more time to study. You can do this because we are a distance-learning college.

No, you can complete ABET level 4 to be eligible for a Matric course. Our Adult Matric course requires that you have either a Grade 9 report or an equivalent qualification.

However, not doing well in maths before, might cause you to struggle in the next grade, unless you make efforts to understand the principles and formulas.
