The 5 Study Programmes of ICB

The ICB has three study programmes. These study programmes are all scarce skills courses. Scarce skills courses are those courses that employers look for.

ICB used to offer (5) five study programmes. They no longer offer these two (2) ICB programmes:

  1. ICB Entrepreneurship
  2. ICB Public Sector Accounting

Students can still gain the necessary skills by studying one of (3) three ICB programmes

Here are the three (3) study programmes of the Institute Of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB):

ICB Business Management Programme

The ICB Business Management Programme equips students with business and financial management best practices. Here are the courses that you will study in the Programme:

Small Business Financial Management: ICB National Certificate

This is the introductory course in the ICB Business Management Programme. To qualify to study for this Course, here are the entry requirements:

Office Administration – Business Management: ICB Higher Certificate

This is the intermediate course of the ICB Business Management Programme. To qualify for this Course, here are the entry requirements:  

Financial Accounting – Business Management: ICB National Diploma

This is the final Course in the ICB Business Management Programme. To qualify for this Course, here are the entry requirements: 

ICB Office Administration Programme

The ICB Office Administration Programme equips students with the skills and knowledge of Bookkeeping and Office Administration. Here are the courses that you will study in the Programme:

Office Administration: ICB National Certificate

The Office Administration: ICB National Certificate is the foundation level of the three-course  ICB Office Administration Programme. To qualify for this Course, here are the entry requirements: 

Office Administration: ICB Higher Certificate

The Office Administration: ICB Higher Certificate is the intermediate level of the ICB Office Administration Programme. To qualify for this Course, here are the entry requirements: 

Office Administration: ICB National Diploma

The Office Administration: ICB National Diploma is the final course of the ICB Office Administration Programme. To qualify for this course, here are the entry requirements: 

ICB Financial Accounting Programme

The ICB Financial Accounting Programme equips students with the skills and knowledge of Bookkeeping and Accounting. Here are the courses that you will study in the Programme:

Bookkeeping: ICB National Certificate

The ICB Bookkeeping National Certificate is the first qualification in the ICB Financial Accounting Programme. To qualify for this course, here are the entry requirements: 

  • Grade 10 or Grade 10 Equivalent Certificate 
  • Be able to read, write and understand English 
  • Be able to study through distance learning

Bookkeeping: ICB FET Certificate

The Bookkeeping: ICB FET (Further Education Training) Certificate, is the second qualification in the ICB Financial Accounting Programme.  To qualify for this Course, here are the entry requirements: 

Technical Financial Accounting: ICB National Diploma

ICB Technical Financial Accounting National Diploma is the third qualification in the ICB Financial Accounting Programme. To qualify for this course, here are the entry requirements: 

  • Be able to read, write and understand English 
  • Be able to study through distance learning

Certified Financial Accounting: ICB National Diploma

The Certified Financial Accounting: ICB National Diploma is the final Qualification in the ICB Financial Accounting Programme. To qualify for this course, here are the entry requirements: 

What Is ICB?

ICB stands for Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. The Institute is an Independent External Examinations body. The main role of the ICB is to assess competency in the Programmes that they offer. 

What this means is that they do not offer any tuition for the ICB Courses. That role is carried out by their approved Training Providers, who are all registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). Matric College is a Training Provider of ICB Courses.

Can I Study Directly Through ICB?

No, you can not study directly through the ICB. You can only study ICB Courses through an approved training provider. Matric College is an approved training provider of the ICB. You will need to register with Matric College first before you register with the ICB.

How Do Register For ICB?

Before you register for ICB, you must first register with Matric College. This is because when you register with the ICB, you will need to indicate the college that you are studying your ICB Course with. To register with the ICB, follow these steps:
