NATED Business Management Programme
The NATED Business Management Programme was originated by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). NATED Programmes are also known as National Qualifications. All NATED programmes have a practical component.
This means that for you to be awarded the National Diploma, you must have completed 18 months of practical work experience. You will study the NATED Courses successively. Here are the NATED Courses that you will study in the NATED Business Management Programme:
- Business Management: NATED N4 National Certificate
- Business Management: NATED N5 National Certificate
- Business Management: NATED N6 National Certificate
- Business Management: NATED N6 National Diploma
ICB Business Management Programme
The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) also offers Business Management Programmes. The ICB is an Independent External Examination Body. This professional body is only responsible for examining and administering ICB Courses. This means that the ICB does not offer tuition or any study material.
This duty has been delegated to their accredited Learning Providers, one of which is Matric College. You will study the ICB Business Management Courses in succession. Here are the Business Management Courses that the ICB offers:

Yes, you can study the ICB Business Management Programme without Matric, however, when you study the NATED Business Management Programme you will need Matric. Here are the admission requirements for the two programmes.

Here are the admission requirements for the NATED Business Management Programme:
- Be 16 or older
- You must have a Matric Certificate, National Senior Certificate, or an Amended Senior Certificate
- Understand, read and write English

ICB Business Management Programme Admission Requirements
Here are the admission requirements for the ICB Business Management Courses:
- Grade 11 or complete the ICB Bridging Course (Junior Bookkeeping: ICB National Certificate)
- Be 16 years or older
- Understand, read and write in English
- Study through distance learning

Business Management: NATED N6 National Diploma
There is no theoretical component in this course. To be awarded the National Diploma, you must have completed 18 months of work experience. Here are the steps that you will need to take:
- Find a suitable work placement. The Department of Higher Education and Training can also assist you to find work placement.
- You will be issued with a logbook where the Manager supervising you will sign for practical work completed for the 18 months
- On completion of your practical, you will submit your logbook to the DHET through Matric College
- As soon as the DHET approves your practical work, you will be issued your Business Management: NATED N6 National Diploma
