ICB’s 5 Study Programmes

The ICB has three study Programmes that offer scarce skills courses. One of the benefits is that you can find employment on completion of a course in no time.

ICB no longer offers five (5) Programmes. The Entrepreneurship Programme has been merged with the Business Management Programme while the Public Sector Accounting Programme has been combined with the Financial Accounting Programme. The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) now offers the following three (3) study Programmes:

Office Administration Programme 

Office Administration Courses equip students with the skills and knowledge to run an office smoothly. This skill set is also in demand as it ensures orderliness in the running of offices. The ICB offers the following courses under the Office Administration Programme

Business Management Programme

The Business Management Courses equip students with the skills and knowledge to run and manage a business. Every business needs a Manager for it to be successful. The ICB offers the following Business Management Courses:

Financial Accounting Programme  

Every business or organisation needs Financial Accounting in order to be successful. The Financial Accounting Programme equip students with the skills and knowledge to run and manage the finances of a business or organisation. This Programme offers the following Financial Accounting Courses:  

What Is An ICB Programme?

Can I Study Through ICB?

No, you cannot study through the ICB. The ICB is an independent external examination body. This means that they are focused on assessing the competency of students who study their Programmes. 

They do not offer any tuition or provide any learning material, although they provide the curriculum. 

They have accredited Learning Providers who provide tuition to the students. Matric College is an accredited Learning Provider of the ICB.

What Do I Need To Study Office Administration?

There are entry requirements for each of the ICB Programmes. Here is what you need to study ICB Office Administration and the other ICB Programmes:

Business Management Programme 

  • Grade 11 or complete our ICB Bridging Course (Bookkeeping: ICB National Certificate)
  • Be at least 16 years or older
  • Be comfortable studying through distance learning
  • Understand, read and write in English

Financial Accounting Programme 

  • Grade 10 or Grade 10 Equivalent Certificate 
  • Be able to read, write and understand English 
  • Be able to study through distance learning

How Many Years Do I Study ICB Courses?

ICB Courses can take an average of three years to study. However, some students can take a shorter while others may take longer. This is largely dependent on how fast you can study. Here is the recommended duration of ICB Courses:

How Do I Register For An ICB Student Portal?

Follow these simple steps to register for an ICB Student Portal:

  1. Register directly with ICB
  2. Fill in all the relevant details
  3. Click register
  4. You will now be redirected to another page where you will fill in all your personal details
  5. After this, you now be able to log in with your new login details 

How Do I Register For A ICB Exam?

Here is how you can register for the ICB exams:

  1. On the ICB Student Portal, submit your student details 
  2. Complete the exam entry form using the exam timetable
  3. Choose whether to write your exam in person or online 
    • If online, you select an exam venue as listed
  4. You will be issued an exam admission letter

What Is ICB MACCI?

ICB MACCI is the second ICB digital platform where you can complete your Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). To gain access to the ICB MACCI, you must first register on the ICB Student Portal. Here is what you use the MACCI for: 

  • Access course updates
  • Write and submit online assignments
  • Write and submit online tests 
  • Write your exams 

What Can I Do With An ICB Qualification?

Here is what you can do with an ICB Qualification:

  • Study further
  • Look for employment opportunities

Study Further

With an ICB Qualification, you can study further. You can study other ICB Courses. Remember, that ICB Courses have common subjects. If you choose to study another ICB course, you will be exempted from studying any similar subjects in the next course. 

This means that you will take a shorter time to complete the course. You can also study other professional courses such as CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)  where you can get exemptions if you hold an ICB Qualification.

Look For Employment Opportunities

You can also look for employment opportunities when you complete an ICB Course. ICB Courses have an advantage in that you can look for job opportunities at each level that you complete a course. You do not have to wait until you complete the whole programme.
