N4 Human Resource Management is the first course in the NATED Human Resource Management Programme. This course allows students to learn the basic skills necessary to start a career in Human Resource Management. Human Resource Management is also referred to as:

What Qualifications Are Needed To Become A Human Resource Manager?

Our Human Resource Management: NATED N6 Diploma Course does not have a theoretical component. You only have to complete your 18 months of work experience to get your N6 National Diploma. Here is a diagram that explains the process

What Are The Subjects For Human Resource Management: NATED N4 National Certificate?
Here are the subjects you need to complete for Human Resource Management: NATED N4 National Certificate:
Complete Subject List
- Entrepreneurship and Business Management N4
- Personnel Management N4
- Management Communication N4
- Computer Practice N4
You have to complete four (4) subjects in total. Three (3) of these subjects are compulsory and one (1) of these subjects are elective.
To gain entry into the next course, which is the Human Resource Management: NATED N5 National Certificate, you must complete and pass all of the subjects of the Human Resource Management: NATED N4 National Certificate.
How Do I Get My N4 Certificate?
You can get your N4 National Certificate by completing and passing the required four (4) subjects offered in the course. After you have completed the course, Matric College will send you the Human Resource Management: NATED N4 National Certificate, which you can use to apply for:
- Work experience with the iWIL services
- This service will help you gain work-based learning, which means you can apply for full-time employment
- Further your studies in the same NATED Programme
- Further your studies in another NATED Programme
Here are the entry requirements for the Human Resource Management: NATED N4 National Certificate:
- Be at least 16 years of age or older
- Have a Matric Certificate, National Senior Certificate or an Amended Senior Certificate
- Understand, read and write English
- Study our NATED Course through distance learning
How Many Credits Does N4 Have?
The N4 National Certificate has 60 credits and is at NQF Level 5.
Can I Combine My N4 With Matric?
No, you cannot combine your N4 with your Matric. You can only combine your old and new Matric certificates. If you are looking to complete a course that offers Matric and specific skills, you should consider completing an NC (V) Course. These courses provide students with industry-specific knowledge combined with your Matric.
After completing an NC (V) Course, you can gain entry to our N4 National Certificates.
If you have not completed Matric or failed Matric, you can apply for the following courses:
- Adult Matric
- Complete this course if you have not completed Matric
- Matric Upgrade
- Complete this course if you have failed Matric
How Long Does An N4 Course Take?
An N4 National Certificate Course can take between six (6) to twelve (12) to complete. This depends on how you choose to complete the course. Here are your options:
Only theory | First theory then work experience | Theory with work experience |
6 months: This applies if you are only completing the theoretical part of the course. * You will still get your N4 National Certificate even if you do not complete the work experience. | 12 months: This applies if you are completing the 6 months theoretical part and then the 6 months work experience. | 6 months: This applies if you are working and studying at the same time. |
Can I Apply With An N4 At University?
No, you cannot apply with your N4 at a university. Even though you have completed this qualification after Matric, certain universities still look at the following factors:
- Your Matric Pass Level. It should be Bachelor’s Degree Pass.
- Your APS Score. Most universities require an APS Score of 34.
The subjects you chose. Even if you have the “perfect” APS Score and Matric Pass Level, certain universities still refer back to the subjects you chose with their percentages.
