What Is The Highest Matric Pass Level?

The highest Matric Pass Level is a Bachelor’s Degree Pass Level.

If your results are higher than the ones below, you have achieved this  Matric Pass level:

  • 40% for your Home Language
  • 50% for (4) four other subjects
  • 30% for (2) two other subjects

This is considered the best Matric Pass Level because you can be granted admission to study at a college or university with it (as long as you meet the other college or university entry requirements).

How Many Times Can I Repeat Matric?

You can only repeat Matric twice in High School. This is because each grade can only be repeated twice. After that, you will automatically be transferred to the next grade.

Because Matric is the last grade in High School, you cannot be transferred to the next grade. This then means that you will have to rewrite your final Matric Exam.

At Matric College, you can complete our Matric Rewrite Course, which will give you the chance to rewrite your Matric subjects as many times as you believe necessary.

Will I Get A Matric Certificate If I Fail 2 Subjects?

Yes, you will get a Matric Certificate, even if you fail two subjects. Your failed results will reflect on your Matric Certificate.

If you failed two or more subjects, we encourage you to apply for our Matric Rewrite Course to improve your marks. You will then be issued with a new Matric Certificate that will reflect your new, improved results.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, you cannot go to university with ABET Level 4 .

ABET Level 4  is equivalent to a Grade 9 Certificate, and both of these qualifications are at NQF Level 1.

To get to university, you have to apply with a Matric Qualification which is at NQF Level 4. The university will also look at these factors when considering your application:

  • Your Matric Pass Level. You have to pass with a Bachelor’s Degree Pass.
  • Your APS. Each university has its own criteria and the courses that they offer have a separate criterion.
  • Your Matric subjects. Universities require certain subjects for certain courses and the percentages for each should be at a certain level.

Apply for our Adult Matric Course with your ABET Level 4 Qualification. After you have completed our Adult Matric Course, you can apply to university.

Umalusi does not issue students with Matric Certificates. After they accredit the Matric Certificates, they are passed on to the Department of Basic Education (DBE). The DBE then sends it to your High School or exam venue. This is where you will collect it from.
