Fetch It At Your High School

This is the most traditional method to obtain your IEB Matric results. You need to find out the date and time your High School has obtained your Matric results and is ready to give them to the students. If you are not sure when you can go fetch your results, you should contact your High School directly.

What Is The IEB?

It is a South African independent agency called the Independent Examinations Board. This private assessment board offers exam services to clients or private schools.  They are also accredited by Umalasi to be able to offer adult and school assessments to students.

The IEB prepares students well for University and College workloads and students will learn valuable skills and knowledge they can use, for example, when applying to study abroad.

Can I Rewrite My IEB Exams?

Yes, you can.

If you want to rewrite your final Matric exams the second time, you can do so by doing the supplementary exams. If you were absent from the exams for personal reasons or if you want to improve your marks, you are allowed to rewrite your IEB exams.

You can apply to write any of your subjects except Life Orientation and if the subject has two papers, you are allowed to write both.

To apply for exam rewrites, you can do so online, and you will have to pay, R 1510 per paper you want to rewrite.

What Is A Distinction In IEB?

A distinction is when you pass any of your subjects with 80% or more. This is considered a great achievement to have. There is no limit to how many distinctions you can have, so you get one for each of your subjects.

Also, it does not matter if you have an IEB or NSC Certificate, if you get more than 80% for your subject, it is considered a distinction.

What Is The IEB Pass Rate?

Here are the pass rates for the year 2020 compared to 2021 as all the 2022 examinations have not been completed yet.

  • The total pass rate for all IEB students in 2020 was 98,06% compared to 98,3% in 2021. This means there was an increase of 0,33%.
  • The pass rate for all students who received entry to a Bachelor’s Degree study was 88,41% in 2020 compared to 89,2% in 2021. This means there was an increase of 0,79%.
  • The pass rate for a Diploma Pass was 8,14% in 2020 compared to 7,82% in 2021. This means there was a decrease of 0,32%.
  • The pass rate for Higher Certificate studies was 1,5% in 2020 compared to 1.37% in 2021. This means there was a decrease of 0,13%.

The decrease in Higher Certificate and Diploma passes can be seen as a positive achievement because more students achieved a Bachelor’s Degree pass. It is a great accomplishment for these students to have achieved these results during the Covid-19 pandemic.
