Where can I further my studies after matric?

After Matric, you can study at Matric College for our ICB, NATED or Short Courses. You will be awarded accredited qualifications when you complete the courses.

After Matric, you can further your studies at college or university. These institutions offer different courses that you can pursue, provided you meet their requirements. Below is a list of institutions where you can further your studies based on your Matric results: 

College 

You can further your studies through a college if you have passed with a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma Pass. You will have a higher chance of studying for the course you want. Please note that having one of these pass levels does not mean you will automatically be accepted into the college. You must still meet other requirements. 

Most colleges require that you have a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma pass. If you have one of these, you may be accepted into the college. This is the first requirement you must meet. When you have been accepted into the college, you will need certain marks to study the courses offered. 

At Matric College, you can apply for any of our courses with any Matric Pass Level.

University 

You can further your education through university if you have passed with a Bachelor’s Degree Pass. Please note that some universities may accept you with a Diploma Pass for a Diploma Course. 

If you have been accepted into university with a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma Pass, then you have completed the first requirements. You will also have to meet the requirements for the course you wish to study. 

For example, you may be required to have 70% or higher marks in English to study for a Degree in Teaching. The university may refer you to a different Diploma Course if you do not meet the 70% English requirement. 

It is best to do research on the college or university you want to study at. Look at the requirements for the course you want to study. This way, you can study to gain the marks that will help you study for the course you want. 

Can I Upgrade My Matric?

Yes, you can upgrade your Matric. You can study the Upgrade Matric Course offered by Matric College. Upgrading your marks will help you raise your chances of getting into college or university. 

When upgrading your Matric through us, you can select a minimum of four (4) subjects. You can upgrade the subjects in which you need higher grades to get into college or university. To upgrade these marks, you must study using the following resources: 

The above resources are available to help you get the marks you need. If you gain better marks, you may qualify for the course you want to study at college or university. These are the requirements you must meet to study this course: 

You must be 21 years old when you write your first exams next year in May

What Should I Study After Grade 12?

After Grade 12 (Matric), you should study for a course that will help you gain skills, knowledge and a qualification that is employment worthy. You do not want to study a course that will not increase your chances of employment. To avoid studying for courses that will not increase your chances of employment, you can study at Matric College. 

Below we have listed the courses you can study with a Matric Certificate. Please note that we do not require students to have any specific marks to study our courses. We only ask that you provide a Matric Qualification which shows you have passed. 

Here are the courses you can enrol for and why should you should study them: 

NATED Courses 

You should study NATED Courses after Grade 12 because they are specially designed to help you get employed. The Department of Higher Education and Training designed these courses after seeing the gap in unemployment. They created courses with qualities that all employers look for. 

When you study NATED Courses, you gain skills, knowledge and work experience. We offer seven (7) NATED Programmes. In each programme, there are four (4) courses. The first three theoretical (3) courses help you gain knowledge. You must study, and complete tests, assignments and exams for this to happen. 

When you are done with the three theoretical courses, you can then complete the last course. The last course in each NATED Programme is a Diploma Course. To pass this course, you do not need to write any tests, assignments or exams. You only need to find employment for 18 months. 

While you work for 18 months, you will gain skills and work experience. After 18 months of work experience, you are awarded a NATED N6 National Diploma qualification. You will be able to find employment as a candidate who has qualities that employers value.

ICB Courses 

You can also apply for our ICB Courses after Grade 12 because they are designed to provide you with skills and knowledge that are business orientated. 

ICB Courses give you a broad insight and understanding of how businesses work. You learn skills and knowledge that you can use to open and run your own company or work in a business owned by someone else. 

The skills and knowledge you earn are in demand. Employers have great respect for candidates who have qualifications that are in demand. Not many people have these skills and as a result, the people who do are valued. Due to this, your chances of finding employment increases. 

These are the ICB Courses you can enrol for: 

Short Courses 

You should enrol for our Short Courses because they are good for work and business purposes. The college created these courses to assist you if you want to start a company or find employment. These courses provide you with a wide variety of skills that make you a skilled candidate. 

When you are a skilled candidate, it is easier to open and manage a business as well as find employment. These are the Short Courses you can study: 

Can You Go To University With A Diploma Pass?

It depends on the university and the course you have applied for. You may be able to apply to some universities with a Diploma Pass. You can enrol for their Diploma, Higher Certificate or Certificate Courses. 

Please note that you need a Bachelor’s Degree Pass to study at university. This Matric Pass will help you have a variety of courses to choose from. This includes Degree Courses. 

How Do You Get A Bachelor’s Degree Pass In Grade 12?

You can receive a Bachelor’s Degree Pass in Grade 12 by obtaining the following marks: 

  • 40% in your home language subject
  • 50% in four other High Credit subjects
  • 30% in one other subject

Please note that these are only the minimum requirements you need to get a Bachelor’s Degree Pass. You can always aim for higher marks to raise your chances of getting accepted to university.

Is It Possible To Get A Job After Matric?

Yes, it is possible to get employment after Matric. This is because a Matric Qualification is one of the most valued qualifications in South Africa. You can use this to find entry-level employment such as working as a Receptionist, Personal Assistant or Call Centre Agent.

What Is The Best Thing To Do After Matric?

The best thing to do after Matric would be to take a gap year. This is where you take a year off studying. You rest your mind and body while creating plans for the next year. This is the best time to think about what you want to do in life. 

If you want to study, you will have enough time to apply to college or university. You can also use this time to do the following: 

  • Spend time with family
  • Learn a new skill

One thing to keep in mind in your gap year is that you can improve your Matric marks for university entry or study any Matric College course with the Matric Pass Level that you have obtained. Study your educational journey with us.
