Unisa Reopens Applications for 2018 First Time Students

Unisa Reopens 1st Semester Applications for One Week: Till 19 January 2018

Unisa has reopened applications for students who want to start studying at Unisa for the first time this year. Prospective students have till Friday, 19 January 2018 to apply.

This is in response to the pressure on Universities to take walk-in applications from students who could not previously apply.

Many students who got good marks in Matric last year, did not apply in 2017, because they knew they could not afford to study.

With NSFAS now funding qualifying students with full bursaries, there are many additional students who will be able to study.

How Much Time Do I Have to Apply?

The application period has just opened.

*Applications close on Friday, 19 January 2018.

You don’t have much time! Act immediately.

How Will Unisa Decide Who Gets a Place?

As soon as you apply, Unisa will start processing your applications. First applications will be processed first. So to get the best chance you must apply early. Unisa will not process applications received after 19 January.

With applications processed on a first come, first served basis, the early applicants get a real advantage.

If you qualify, Unisa will make you an offer IF they still have space on the programme that you apply for.

Does this mean I can Study for Free at Unisa in 2018?

Unisa has already stated that first time applicants who register for the first semester in 2018 can get fully funded by NSFAS, if they adhere to the NSFAS requirements.

In short, the NSFAS requirement is a household income of less than R350 000 per year. These students will have all their Unisa fees paid by NSFAS. And it will be bursaries, not loans. So you won’t pay it back.
