On the 30th of June 2021 the release for the May/June National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations results was approved by Umalusi.
Report Received From The IEB
According to the report received from the IEB, the following was found.
677 candidates wrote 28 NSC subjects at 18 examination centres. The marking was conducted at 30 marking centres.
Umalusi moderated and approved a total of 49 question papers and their marking guidelines. Umalusi officials also monitored the examinations, verified all the markings, and standardised the results.
Executive Committee (EXCO) of Umalusi Council
The EXCO of Umalusi Council released the following statement:
“Having studied all the evidence presented, the Executive Committee (EXCO) of Umalusi Council noted that during the monitoring of the writing and marking of the examinations, there were no irregularities identified. EXCO is satisfied that there were no systemic irregularities reported, which might have compromised the credibility and integrity of the May/June 2021 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations administered by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB).The Executive Committee of Council commends the IEB for conducting a successful examination despite challenges presented by Covid-19.”
The Acting CEO Comments
Mr Emmanuel Sibanda had a few comments regarding the outcome of the approval of the release of results.
- That Umalusi has continued to provide excellent standards in general and further education and training.
- He suggested that all examinations (mid-year and end-of-year) should be subjected to the same level of quality assurance.
