Educare: NATED N6 National Certificate

The N6 Educare course is the last level of the Educare qualification. You will receive your Diploma after completing your practical component of the course.

The Educare NATED N6 National Certificate is the third qualification in the Educare NATED Programme at Matric College. This qualification equips you with knowledge and skills that prepare you for the work environment.

The NATED Programme at Matric College is offered in partnership with Bellview Institute of Distance Learning.

How NATED Courses Work

Educare: NATED N6 National Certificate Assessments

The Educare: NATED N6 National Certificate consists of assignments and exams. You must pass these assessments to complete the Certificate course.

Assignments

There are three (3) open book assignments that you must complete. You can use the study material that we provide to you to complete the assignments. You must receive a mark of 50% or higher to pass your assignments. 

Exams

The exams are set by the Department of Higher Education and Training. There are two exam opportunities for the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate course. You can write your exams in May/June or in October/November. If you fail or miss the May/June exam, you can rewrite it in the October/November exam.

NATED Educare is a course that equips you with skills and knowledge to educate and care for children 0 to 5 years old. This course is designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training to equip you with theoretical and practical knowledge that prepares you for the workplace. Employers are looking for these components for the following reasons: 

  • Practical knowledge 
  • Theoretical knowledge 

Practical knowledge 

When you have practical knowledge, you can advance your skills in the work environment easily. Practical knowledge gives you a better chance to be employed because employers know you can perform the work. 

Theoretical knowledge 

Employers are looking for candidates with knowledge because this shows you will be able to learn the work fast. This increases your chances of employment as you have knowledge that you can apply and advance in your workspace.

N6 Educare can refer to the following qualifications: 

  • Educare NATED N6 National Certificate 

Educare NATED N6 National Diploma

No, you cannot do the NATED Educare course without Matric. You need a Matric Certificate to study the NATED Educare Programme.

No, you cannot become a Teacher with an Educare NATED N6 National Certificate. You need a Degree in Teaching to become a Teacher in one of the following phases: 

  • Foundation phase – Grade R to 3
  • Intermediate phase – Grade 4 to 6
  • Senior phase – Grade 7 to 9
  • Further Education and Training phase – Grade 10 to 12

However, you can use the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate to work as a Preschool Assistant Teacher.

No, you cannot teach Grade R with the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate. You need a Degree in Foundation Phase Teaching to teach Grade R.

No, you cannot teach Grade 3 with the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate. You must have a Degree in Foundation Phase Teaching to teach Grade 3.

This is what happens when you have completed the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate: 

  • We will send your final results to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
  • Once the DHET has approved your results they will send us your Educare NATED N6 National Certificate
  • We will award you with your Educare NATED N6 National Certificate

You can use the NATED Educare N6 Qualification to do the following: 

  • Look for employment 
  • Study further 

Look For Employment 

You can use the Educare NATED N6 National Certificate to look for employment. This qualification will increase your chances of employment because: 

  • It is recognised nationally 
  • It is designed by the DHET 
  • It is accredited by the DHET and the QCTO 
  • It trains you for the workplace (skills-based) 

Study Further 

You can use this qualification to do the Educare NATED N6 National Diploma with us. Once you have completed the N6 Diploma, you will be done with the Educare NATED Programme.

How Do I Study Educare NATED N6 National Certificate?

Step 1: Register for the Educare NATED Programme

Step 2: Before registering for the final exams, submit your three assignments for each NATED Certificate course subject

Step 3: Aim for 50% or higher on all your assignments

Step 4: Once you receive your assessment results and have qualified for the Educare NATED exam, register to take the exam.

Step 5: Write your exam in the first OR the second exam opportunity 

Step 6: On successful completion, receive your Certificate from Matric College
