Mid-Year Matric Exams Cancelled

Mid-Year Matric Exams Cancelled

The Department of Basic Education has decided to cancel the mid-year matric exams.

What You Need To Know

This has been done so learners will have time to cover the necessary work of the curriculum.

Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, stated that the plan would be to keep students in the classroom for as long as possible.

Motshekga also mentions how students did not have a March holiday and that schools are giving extra classes in order to cover all the work. There are also teams working on monitoring the rate of Covid-19 infections.

Primary School New Regulations

New regulations were also applied to the Disaster Management Act last week, allowing primary school learners to return to school daily in July.

Some of the requirements are:

  • That teaching and learning should commence outside of confined classrooms (if practical).
  • The suspension of contact sports.
  • All Covid-19 health protocols and safety measures must be followed.
