If your Matric results are not what you wanted, you still have other options.

  1. Get your exam papers remarked.
  2. Get your exam papers rechecked.
  1. Get your exam papers rechecked.

You should go for a recheck if you think that there was a problem with the adding up of your marks of a certain paper. This is not a remark though; they will only make sure the marks are added up properly, they will not go through every answer to check if they are correct. You must apply for a recheck at your school or department of education district office. The deadline is 19 January and the fee is R21 for every paper that you want rechecked.

  1. Get your exam papers remarked.

If you ask for a remark, then your entire paper is remarked and all your answers are checked to see if they are right or wrong. The fee for a remark is R92 per paper that you want remarked. Remember, the deadline is 19 January.

If you want to view your exam papers, you can only do that after the remark or recheck. You must apply to view your paper within seven days after the release of the remark or recheck. Viewing your paper will cost R180 per paper.

  • Did I go out on the town or sit around watching TV when I should have been studying?
  • Did I think I was too cool to study and now I regret it?
  • Did I study hard enough?
  • Did I work hard in class all throughout the year or did I try to make up everything at the end of the year?
  • Did I think it was going to be easy and I didn’t put the effort in?
