The class of 2021 is anxiously waiting for their Matric Results that are scheduled to be released on 21 January 2022. This release date applies to all public schools. The results for the Independent Education Board (IEB) will be released on 19 January 2022.

Will My Name Appear In The Newspaper?
No, your name will NOT appear in the newspaper. According to the court ruling on Tuesday morning, 18th of January 2022, the Matric results will still be published on social media platforms and the newspaper.
ONLY the examination numbers will appear in the newspaper.
These examination numbers are ONLY known by the students and are in line with the POPI Act.

What Announcement Did The Department Of Basic Education Make?
The Department of Basic Education announced that Matric Results will no longer be published on media platforms. This is in line with the recently introduced Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This is also more commonly known as the POPI Act. Historically, Matric Results were made available to all students with their ID numbers.
Media houses were issued a notice stating:
“the usual practice of publishing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results on public platforms (media platforms) will not occur for 2021”
“As was also the practice in previous years, all learners will be required to obtain their statement of results from the schools they attended. In this way, every learner’s personal information with regards to the outcome of their National Senior Certificate exam will be protected.”
The Commencement Date Of The POPI Act
The President of South Africa has proclaimed that the POPI Act would commence on 1 July 2020.
When Were The Final Matric Results Captured?
The final marks for the National Senior Certificate were captured on the 27th of December 2021. Umalusi approved the results on the 14th of January in order to release them on 21 January 2022.
What Are The Matric Pass Requirements?
The Matric Pass Requirements will remain the same. Many have debated that these results will be adjusted due to COVID and Eskom related issues BUT this information is not true. The Matric Pass Requirements will remain the same. Here are the different Matric Pass Levels:
- Bachelors Degree Pass
- Diploma Pass
- Higher Certificate Pass
- National Senior Certificate Pass
Bachelors Degree Pass
- Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language
- Must obtain at least 50% in four other High Credit subjects
- Must obtain at least 30% in two other subjects
Diploma Pass
- Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language
- Must obtain at least 40% in three other High Credit Subjects (Four, including your home language)
- Must obtain at least 30% in two other subjects
Higher Certificate Pass
- Must obtain 40% in your Home Language
- Must obtain at least 40% in two other subjects
- Must obtain at least 30% in three other subjects
- It is important to note that one of your languages must either be English or Afrikaans to qualify for a Higher Certificate
National Senior Certificate Pass
- Must obtain 40% in your Home Language
- Must obtain at least 40% in two other subjects
- Must obtain at least 30% in three other subjects
- You can fail one subject even if it is your First Additional Language BUT you must get 30% or more for the rest of the subjects

Your upcoming Matric results should provide you with a sense of optimism. If you have tried your best, then you should not be concerned about your Matric results. This is an exciting opportunity for you. A Matric Certificate opens many doors for you. Here are your options:
- Further your studies at Matric College (We accept any Matric Pass Level)
- Study without Matric
- Find employment
- Further your studies at a university
If you fail Matric, you do have the opportunity to Upgrade your results with our Matric Upgrade course.
If you do not have Matric, you can apply for our Adult Matric course. Here are the entry requirements:
- Have a Grade 9 certificate OR Grade 9 Equivalent Certificate (ABET Level 4)
- Be 21 or older
- You can apply at 19 BUT you must be 21 when you write the adult exam
- Study through distance learning
- Understand, write and read in English
