Matric College offers a variety of courses that you can study with or without a Matric Qualification. You will gain skills and knowledge valued by employers.

The devastation of not having Matric is overwhelming. If you do not have a Matric Certificate, you may feel clueless about your future. This is because a Matric Certificate helps you gain access to university and get entry-level employment. 

There is no need to worry if you do not have a Matric Certificate. You can build a bright future academically, through different study streams. Below, we have compiled a list of things you can do, to create success as someone without Matric: 

Study Without Matric

If you do not have a Matric Qualification, you can study at a Matric College. There are many courses you can choose from. These courses are designed to help you create a successful future, although you do not have Matric. Below are the courses you can study without Matric: 

ICB Courses

Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Courses were made to help students be more business-minded. These courses focus on business and everything in it. When you study an ICB Course, you gain the following skills: 

The above skills can be used in a business environment to help the company generate income and growth. The above skills are known as skills that are in demand in South Africa. When you have these skills, all employers want to hire you. 

ICB Courses are accredited by the QCTO and the ICB. This is the registration between a course and a professional body to ensure the course offers quality educational services at all times. Accredited Courses offer accredited qualifications which are of high value in the work environment. 

The ICB Qualification are accredited. These courses are also recognised globally. You can use an ICB Qualification to find work or further your academics in South Africa or abroad. These are the ICB Courses we offer: 

Short Courses

Short Courses were made by the college to offer students different skills that they can use in the work environment. These courses focus on business and employment. When you study a Short Course, you gain the following: 

  • Different skills related to the course 
  • Entrepreneurship skills

All Short Courses are skills-based. They focus on equipping you with skills that are enough to help you start your own company or find employment. These courses are not accredited. However, they have the following benefits: 

  • You do not write exams 
  • The course can be completed in a short span of time (e.g 4 months) 
  • You do not need Matric to study 
  • They enhance existing skills
  • They offer a new set of skills

I Do Not Have Matric Where To Now?

Adult Matric

If you do not have Matric, you can study the Adult Matric Course. This is a course that offers an opportunity to adults who do not have a Matric Qualification. The Adult Matric course is for adults who are 21 years or older and want to study for Matric. 

This course is available through Matric College. It equips you with the knowledge that is relevant for university and employment, purposes. When you finish studying the Adult Matric Course, you gain a Matric Certificate

The qualification is issued by Umalusi, a quality council responsible for the issuance of all Matric Certificates in South Africa. You can use the Matric Certificate to further your studies at university, college or find work. 

Rewrite Matric

If you do not have Matric because you failed the class, you can apply for a rewrite Matric exam. This is an exam sitting that will allow you to rewrite your Matric. You can use this opportunity to study hard and gain better marks this time around. 

You can prepare for your final examinations by doing the following: 

  • Study daily 
  • Research your subjects 
  • Use past exam papers to study 
  • Study with others and share ideas 
  • Have a tutor to assist if you can afford one 

You can apply for a Rewrite Matric exam/Second Chance Programme/Supplementary Exam through the following places: 

  • High School
  • The Department of Basic Education website or offices 
  • The Department of Provincial Education offices 

Study Matric

If you do not have Matric, you can study for Matric. You can do this in High School if you are younger than 21. If you are 21 or older, you study for the Adult Matric Course at Matric College. 

You can study Matric in High School and gain the knowledge you need to study at university. You will learn a lot through class assessments and exams. When you complete the class, you will be awarded a Matric Certificate, which you can use to apply to university or find employment. 

If you had studied the Matric before and failed, you can also study the class again. This applies as long as you are not over the age of 21. 

Which College Can I Go To Without Matric?

You can study at Matric College without Matric. You can also study through us if you have a Matric Certificate. Our courses cover different types of students with different qualifications. If you do not have Matric, you can study with us. 

We are a distance learning college. We provide our courses to students while they study from home. This is the type of learning that is flexible and allows you to be fully in charge of your studies.

Yes, you can do Matric online. You can study through distance learning at Matric College while using online tools such as the following:

How Many Subjects Do You Need To Pass Matric?

You need seven subjects to study Matric. From the seven subjects you study, you are required to pass six subjects to complete Matric. This means you can fail one subject and still pass Matric. However, you must study to pass all your subjects, as this will help you gain entry into university or employment.

What Do You Do If You Fail A Maths Test?

If you failed a Maths test, you can do the following to pass the following time: 

  • Practise maths 
  • Use past papers to practise 
  • Use your study material when studying 
  • Have the right tools, e.g. calculator 
  • Ask for help 
  • Take notes in classes 
  • Ask questions in class 
  • Get in a study group with learners who pass maths 
  • Study daily 

How Do You Pass Matric With Flying Colours?

You pass with good marks by dedicating yourself to your studies. If you want to pass really well, you must do what other students do not do. For example. If an average student studies for two hours a day, you must study at least six hours a day. You can do the following to pass with flying with colours: 

  • Study every day for at least four hours 
  • Use exam past papers to study 
  • Practise tests and assignments you set for yourself 
  • Rate your level of the progress weekly 
  • Study with others and share ideas 
  • Get a tutor if necessary 

What Are The 3 Types Of Certificates You Can Get In Matric?

There are four (4) types of Matric Certificate Passes. If you obtain these, you pass Matric. These are the Matric Pass Levels: 

Bachelor’s Degree Pass Level

  • A minimum of 40% in your home language 
  • A minimum of 50% in four subjects 
  • A minimum of 30% in two other subjects 

Diploma Pass Level

  • A minimum of 40% in your home language 
  • A minimum of 40% in four subjects 
  • A minimum of 30% in two other subjects 

Higher Certificate Pass Level

  • A minimum of 40% in your home language 
  • A minimum of  40% in two subjects 
  • A minimum of 30% in four other subjects

National Senior Certificate Pass Level

  • A minimum of 40% in your home language 
  • A minimum of 30% in two other subjects 
  • A minimum of 30% in three subjects 
  • You can fail one subject
