How do I consolidate two matric certificates?

If you did more than one sitting for your Matric, you will need to combine your certificates. Here is how you can combine your Matric Certificates:

  • In-person

Here is how you can apply to combine your Matric results in person:

  1. Visit your nearest Department of Basic Education office
  2. Take with you the following documents:
    • Certified copy of an identity document
    • Results from each of your examinations sitting
    • Proof of payment

Here is how you can apply to combine your Matric results online:

  1. Download and fill in the Replacement/Change Of Status Form
  2. Attach all the necessary documents
  • Certified copy of an identity document
  • Results from each of your examinations sitting

How Long Does It Take To Combine A Matric Certificate?

It takes between 4 – 6 weeks from the date of submission to combine your Matric Certificate. On submission, you will immediately be given a combination statement of results. This statement shows that you are waiting for your combined certificate.

How Much Does It Cost To Combine Your Matric Results?

The cost of combining your Matric certificate is R 153.00. This fee will only be valid for this financial year, that is, 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Can I Combine Senior Certificate Amended SC (A) and the National Senior Certificate (NSC)?

Yes, you can combine Senior Certificate Amended and National Senior Certificate on the following conditions: 

  • If your last Matric sitting was before 2008, you will be awarded a Senior Certificate (Amended).
  • If your last Matric sitting was after 2008, you will be awarded a National Senior Certificate  

What is a Matric Upgrade?

A Matric Upgrade is a programme that casters for Matric students who want to achieve the following:

  • Move their subjects from a fail to a pass
  • Want to improve their subject marks
  • Want to change their subjects
  • Want to add subjects to the existing ones

Who Qualifies For A Matric Upgrade?

To qualify for the Matric Upgrade programme, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have a Matric or,
  • An incomplete Matric

What Is A Matric Rewrite?

A Matric Rewrite is a programme which aims to give Matric students who would have failed to meet the requirements of a Matric, another chance to write Matric exams. Matric Rewrite is also known as the Second Chance programme or Supplementary exams. 

Who Qualifies For A Matric Rewrite?

To qualify for the Matric Rewrite programme, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have recently completed Matric through the school system
  • Be under the age of 21

Matric College offers the Matric Upgrade programme. Matric College is a distance learning institution. There are no classes that you will attend. 

Distance learning is a form of online learning. It is a form of online learning because we use online tools to reach out to our students. This is in addition to textbooks and study notes that we will also provide you with.

How Much Does It Cost To Upgrade Matric?

To find out the cost of upgrading your Matric, you will need to contact one of our Course Experts. We do not believe in – one size fits all – approach. Can I Upgrade My Matric Online?

No, you can not upgrade your Matric online. However, you can study for your Matric Upgrade online. To upgrade your Matric subject/s you will have to be physically at an examination centre. 

Studying online is the use of online tools to distribute learning materials as well as voice communication. Here are some of the tools that can be used when you study through distance learning:

Can I Still Register To Upgrade My Matric?

No, registration to upgrade Matric closed on 31 January 2022. Matric Upgrade exams are written in May/June. Usually, registration opens on 1 October and closes on 31 January of the next year. However, the Department will announce the actual dates. Just keep your ear to the ground.  

Can I Go To University With Amended Senior Certificate?

Yes, you can go to university with a Senior Certificate (Amended). Remember that a Senior Certificate Amended is a Matric Qualification issued by Umalusi. The Adult Matric Programme is an official government programme conducted through the Department. It being an official qualification, universities accept the Senior Certificate Amended.

Can I Upgrade My Matric Results After 5 Years?

Yes, you can upgrade your Matric results after 5 years. You can upgrade your Matric results after any number of years. There is no limitation to the period of time. You will only need to meet the following requirements:  

  • You must have a Matric or,
  • An incomplete Matric

Can I Study At Unisa With Amended Senior Certificate?

Not only can you study at Unisa with an Amended Senior Certificate, but you can study at any university of your choice. The minimum requirement for you to study for a degree is a Bachelor’s Degree Matric Pass Level. You will however need to find out the specific requirement of the course that you want to study.
