Helping Your Child Through Matric

Matric College will help you guide your child through his or her Matric year. All you need to do is follow our four tips to helping your child achieve success.

Being in Matric can be stressful for a child. This class determines whether your child will pass and be able to further their studies or not. This is why as a parent, you must be supportive towards your child while doing their Matric.

There are many ways in which you can help your child in Matric. Below is a list of things you can do to help your child:

  • Create a schedule
  • Avoid overworking
  • Make healthy food
  • Ensure that your child gets enough rest
  • Believe in your child

Create A Schedule

You can help your child in Matric create a study schedule. The schedule may include daily or weekly study sessions based on how your child prefers to study. If they want to study daily or at least three or four times a week, allow them to do so.

Make sure that the schedule includes study breaks. Studying without a break is not good for your child. They need to rest as a way to regain strength and refresh their minds.

Avoid Overworking

A child in Matric has a lot of school work to do. This means you should not overwork them with house chores. To balance their studies and house chores, you can ask them to help you around the house during their study breaks or weekends.

Make sure that your child spends most of their time studying rather than cleaning.

Make Healthy Food

Eating healthy food is good for the body. Healthy food gives energy. Make sure you provide your child with healthy meals. If they eat healthily, they will have the strength to study rather than if they have junk food, they will be more likely to feel tired.

Ensure That Your Child Gets Enough Rest

You can help your child in Matric by ensuring they rest. It is easy for a student to break down mentally and physically. Do not let them feel overwhelmed by studying without rest. Remind them that it is okay to take a break. They can go for a walk, visit a friend or watch a movie.

Believe In Your Child

Everyone deserves to have someone that believes in them. Be this person for your child. Knowing that they have someone to lean on will motivate them to study. They will not feel alone, and their Matric journey will feel less stressful

How Do You Stay Focused On Matric?

You can stay focused on Matric by doing the following:

  • Have a study timetable

What Are Bad Habits For Students?

Below is a list of bad habits that students have:

Students who procrastinate their school work usually find it hard to cover all their work before the exams. This is why you should always do your work on time. Have enough discipline to complete your school work on time. You can also ask someone close to you to hold you accountable when you become lazy to study.

Overworking

There is nothing wrong with working ahead. Students are advised to do their work on time. However, you should be careful to not overwork yourself. Your mind and body need rest. If you do not get enough rest, you may develop anxiety. Make sure you work hard while giving yourself study breaks.
