No, universities do not accept National Certificate (Vocational) NC (V). Here are the minimum entry requirements to a university:

- Be 21 and older. You may apply when you are 19, but you have to be at least 21 years old when you write the final exam.
- Have a Grade 9 Certificate or a Grade 9 Equivalent Certificate. This can also be an ABET Level 4.
- Understand, read and write English
- Study through distance learning
Is ABET Level 4 The Same As Grade 12?
No, ABET Level 4 is not the same as Grade 12. ABET Level 4 is at NQF Level 1, which is the same NQF Level as a Grade 9 Certificate. You can apply for our Adult Matric Course with your ABET Level 4 Qualification. This means that you can get your Matric and then go to university.

How Many Times Can You Upgrade Your Matric?
You can upgrade your Matric as many times as you prefer. There is no fixed amount of time. However, you must keep in mind that if you have passed Matric with a Bachelor’s Degree Matric Pass, you will have multiple Matric Certificates because a Bachelor’s Degree Pass will not be combined. This is because it is the highest Matric Pass Level. Apply with all of your Matric Certificates.
Can I Go To University With N4?
No, you cannot go to university with an N4 National Certificate. You can only apply to a university with the following entry requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree Matric Pass
- Matric subjects related to the course you are applying for
Each university also has certain APS Scores you need to meet to gain admission to their university, as well as separate APS Scores for the courses offered at the university.
What Is A Senior Certificate Without Endorsement?
A Senior Certificate without Endorsement means that you have not received a Bachelor’s Degree Matric Pass Level. This means that you have achieved one of the following Matric Pass Levels:
- Diploma Matric Pass Level
- Higher Certificate Matric Pass Level
- National Senior Certificate Matric Pass Level
What Do You Do If You Do Not Get Into University?
Here is what you can do if you do not get into university:
- Complete our Matric Upgrade Course to improve your marks and gain entry to a university

- Further your studies at Matric College. We accept any Matric Pass Level.
Why Are Some Learners Not Accepted To Universities?
Here are the reasons why some learners are not accepted to universities:
- They do not have the correct APS Scores
- Their Matric Pass Level is not a Bachelor’s Degree
- They do not have the Matric subjects required for the course
Can You Get Into A University Without The Required Grades?
Yes, you can, but you might not be able to gain entry to the particular course you would like to complete. For example, if you are someone that has passed Matric with a Bachelor’s Degree, but you have failed Mathematics in High School and you would like to complete a Business Management Course.
The university may give accept your application but not for the Degree course, instead, you will complete a bridging course and then a Diploma course and finally the Degree course.
Can You Combine A Senior Certificate With A National Senior Certificate?
Yes, you can combine your Senior Certificate with your National Senior Certificate. To apply for the combination of Matric results, you have to contact the Department of Basic Education. The process may take between 4 and 8 weeks.
