NATED means National Accredited Technical Education Diploma.

NATED Courses are designed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The purpose of NATED courses is to:

  • Equip students with practical skills
  • Equip students with theoretical knowledge
  • Prepare students for work
  • Reduce the gap of youth unemployment

NATED N4 to N6 means the following:

  • NATED N4 National Certificate
  • NATED N5 National Certificate
  • NATED N6 National Certificate

NATED Certificate courses are built on each other. You must study the NATED N4 National Certificate course to get to the last qualification. This is beneficial because you receive qualifications for every level you complete. When you have completed the three (3) Certificate courses, you will have three (3) qualifications.

How NATED Courses Work

Although the courses are studied from first to last, students can choose to study the NATED courses individually. You can study in the following manner:

  • You can study theory for 18 months and then complete 18 months of practical work experience afterwards
  • Study 18 months of theory while doing practical work experience at the company you work for
  • Complete 6 months of theory and 6 months of practical work experience, then obtain the N4 certificate, then continue the process until you reach the N6 certificate.

NATED Courses Logbooks

Logbooks are used in NATED Qualifications to record the hours you complete while doing your practical work experience. The logbook shows how the process was done and if you completed all the work you were assigned to.

You receive the logbook from us. Once the work experience is complete, you hand the logbook to the manager of the place where you will be working for them to sign. Bring back the logbook to us and we will send it to the Department of Higher Education and Training. Once the DHET has approved your logbook, they will send you your National Diploma.

It takes 18 to 36 months to complete a NATED course.
