The thought of starting a new career can often be a difficult one, especially if you’ve been working without completing your matric. Most of the good jobs available expect you to have a Diploma level qualification, but since you don’t have matric, you’re not even sure if that’s possible at this point. The purpose of this article is to inform you that there is a way to get a your diploma even though you haven’t completed grade 12.

ICB Accredited Courses

The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) has made it possible to study a fully accredited National Diploma course, even though you don’t have matric. Their courses are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (QCTO) and are accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). All of the colleges that sell their courses, need to be registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to be allowed to distribute them. All of this means that you can be certain a qualification from them, will be recognised and reliable when applying for a job.

The ICB has been around for more than 80 years, and is always updating their courses to make sure they’re useful in today’s industry. You can rest assured that anything you study from them will give you real world knowledge. The ICB has also made it really easy for you to study with them, by making their courses available via distance learning. This means that there are no physical classes to attend, and you are able to continue working while you are studying.

Studying while you work

Distance learning colleges allow you to study from the comfort of your own home. This means you can complete your courses in your own time. You won’t need to stop working in order to study a course from the ICB. Another great benefit of the ICB courses is that you can get your 1st qualification from them in 12 months. If you study the ICB Junior Bookkeeping Course, you’ll be awarded with an NQF level 3 certificate from the ICB. This certificate qualifies you for a job as a junior bookkeeper.

You can immediately apply for the designation on your certificate and start working your way up through higher levels of the ICB Financial Accounting Programme. This allows you to improve your knowledge while you’re working in the related field. At no point, will you be required to stop earning an income to complete your studies. If you complete the ICB Financial Accounting Programme, you’ll receive your NQF level 6 National Diploma in financial accounting.

Supported Learning

Studying something in a field you may not know much about, isn’t an easy thing to do. This doesn’t mean that you can’t do it though. There are distance learning colleges with excellent support systems and student advisors which can help you through your course from start to finish. Learning a new skill could be what you need to change your current circumstances for the better.

If you’re not sure where you would consider studying, we recommend TWP Academy. They offer help through dedicated student advisors, as well social learning through study groups. This means that if you register with them, you’ll gain free access to their online study group platform called Together We Pass. You’ll be added to the study groups for the subjects you are currently enrolled for. Which means you can study with other people doing the same subjects and ask them questions, learning together as you progress through your course.
